The background story of the model
I met Nooreen when I did my B.A. Psychology in Hyderabad about two years ago. She is from Mauritius, a very beautiful island between India and Africa. Mauritius can be named as a heaven on earth. It is a small island consists of less than two million population with various ethnicity and religions. Most of the people have Indian ancestry from their great grandfather who came as slaves brought by British Empire. After the liberation of the country, those people dominate and reign most of the places in the country.
My first encounter with Nooreen was about two years ago during a foreign student meeting. At that time, I had no knowledge about photography at all. About two months later after getting my first DSLR camera, I asked her to participate in a photoshoot titled "The Night Song" along with her country mate, Varsha.
We worked in three different photo shoots. "The Night Song" was a black and white work.
The photo shoot
The technical execution of the photoshoot
In the first photoshoot with Nooreen titled "The Night Song", I instructed her to be more masculine, as the theme of the project is about two lovers, but I wanted to use female models to represent the couple. Thus, she dressed in a formal shirt, a red tie, and pants. For the properties, she was related to more masculine items such as cigarettes. Although she was plotted to be the masculine side, I also wanted to expose some of her beauty within the masculinity. The result was satisfying, and Nooreen did a very good job as a model.
My second photo shoot with Nooreen titled "The Mystique of Love". In this photo shoot, I also asked her friend, Varsha to participate in this project. The theme is about an Indian folklore, where a female painter successfully brought her painting to the real world. This time, Nooreen took a role as the female painter. She dressed in a casual shirt with a scarf, and a cowgirl hat. I instructed her to be more mysterious, confident, and enigmatic. I have to say that the second photo shoot is more difficult compared to the first one, as we had to do it at night, with very low source of light. Thus, the image quality of the second photo shoot might not be as good as the first one. However, in terms of the theme and artistic value, I felt that the second project is much better.

The Eyes
Actually this is a very good photo. I captured her expression very well. Unfortunately, I failed to get the right focus due to the low light.

Indeed, Nooreen has a very beautiful smile. Don't you agree?
Some useful photography tips
Especially for beginner
Your camera is important, but it is not the most important thing
It not about how expensive your camera is, but it is more about your creativity. Try to mess with different photography principles, and although you only use cheap camera, you can still create beautiful photos. Never ever say that you can't take a beautiful photo because you don't have high quality camera.
Consider to use tripod
Especially if you take photos in low light condition and your lens doesn't have image stabilizer. Tripod is the best alternative to take a good photos in a room with limited amount of light without bringing the image sensitivity (ISO) too high.
Learning by doing
Find a good reference and tutorial, and learn from it seriously. An important thing to remember, learning photography is about doing it, and practicing what you learn from your tutor as soon as possible.
Have fun while learning
This is the most important thing in learning photography. You need to have fun and enjoy every learning process. Stop whenever you feel bored, and carry on as soon as your learning mood returns. Whenever you feel happy and passionate about something, you can create quality works from it. Becoming an expert in that field would also be easier.
Take as much photos as possible
Sharpen your photography skill by using it as often as possible. Consider it as a practice. A good swordman needs to swing his sword million times before he learns the best way to use his sword in a battle. So does a photographer. A good photographer needs to take thousands of photos. A famous photographer once said that "Your first ten thousand photos are bad photos." It means that you need to do a lot of practice before being able to produce a real artwork.
